Many jeepneys like this one provide inexpensive transportation in and around the city. It costs approximately 8 pesos to ride. Just to gain perspective on how much that is--there are 40 pesos for a Canadian dollar. There is some talk now about replacing jeepneys in the core of the city with rapid transit. There would be some advantages to this to do with less congestion and less pollution. However, many people would be at peril of losing their livelihood, and of course, the cost would likely be more to the citizens.

It's wonderful to see some of your surroundings so far away from Canada -yes, can almost imagine the sounds and smells but I'm sure we'd have to be there to know! It's hard to imagine that you're comfortable in shorts and sandals while we're shivering in very cold temperatures and record snowfalls. Good to happen while you can enjoy warmer weather! Keep on celebrating...we're thrilled with you that you can be together with Andrey and Jen at this time. We're so glad too that Bobbi and Bill are in Mexico with our kids so they'll have special people to celebrate this joyous time of the year - Christmas! It's snowing here again. Quite a storm last night and another scheduled for Christmas Eve. I'm rethinking the White Christmas thing!
Bill, Jeta and I went to Cape Breton to visit Mom but returned a day early to avoid driving during the storm. We had clear roads and little traffic all the way home. The storm started about 20 minutes after we got home. Very blessed!
I read the book you gave me in the car. (yes, Bill was driving!) It was awesome! It gave me glimpses into a culture I know little about. Started reading The Shack this morning.
