Bucharest

After disembarkation from the Primadonna, we began a city tour of Bucharest.  We visited a historical village--houses that were actually lived in at some point, but moved here to Bucharest for the purpose of preserving the history.

A church building also at this outdoor museum.  The roof is particularly noteworthy.

A sled to be pulled most likely by a horse.

The House of Parliament, second largest building in the world...planned, but not completed by Nicolae Ceausescu because he was ousted by the people in 1989.

The view from the main balcony of the House of Parliament from where Ceausescu had planned to make speeches to the people.

On that (in)famous balcony.

University built by a favourite king--Carl.  Ironically, he was a king who came from Germany.

Our last evening meal together.

Our general impressions of the trip included thoughts and feelings of satisfaction in having had a good time with friends, of learning about countries about which we knew very little before, of developing an empathy for the people of these countries.   Anna-Marie, one of our Bulgarian tour guides, asked us to pray for them.   And we will, as they come to mind.
