Tarnovo and Arbanasi, Bulgaria

Indeed, as we were told this day, Bulgaria is a patch of paradise.

Fun shopping areas!

During our time in Bulgaria we were told by the tour guides that during the Second World War, though Bulgaria had become an ally to Germany, they were able to stall on the requests and commands for Bulgarians to send all their Jews to Germany. There were 55,000 in the country. As a result not one Bulgarian Jewish person died during the Holocaust.
Beautiful old buildings.

A home that was built by the Turks in the 15th Century.  Their craftsmen/women had great reputations in Russia and the Austrian Empire.

Geraniums seem to be a popular international flower.
